ABOUT INDIVISIBLE LONG ISLAND

How It Started

Indivisible Long Island was born in the wake of the 2024 presidential election — out of despair, a single text message, and the instinct that sitting on the sidelines was simply not an option. Our founder joined a national Indivisible call, learned about the movement, and registered a local group that same day. The first meeting was four people in a living room.

That was the spark. What followed was built by all of us.

Who We Are

We are neighbors, parents, retirees, and workers across Long Island who believe that our country is worth fighting for. We are Bridge Brigade regulars and first-time protesters. We are people who showed up once and never stopped. We are powered entirely by volunteers — dedicated activists who organize every rally, march, town hall, and event because they believe this moment demands it.

None of what we do is possible without our team and our community. That is the heart of this movement — not any one person, but all of us, together.

What We Believe

We believe in a country that works for everyone. Where basic needs are met — a roof over your head, food on your table, affordable healthcare and childcare, and the opportunity to earn a living wage. Where hard work still means something. Where every person, regardless of race, ethnicity, or who they love, is treated with dignity and respect. Where kindness and honesty still matter.

That is the America we are fighting for. And we know we can get there — together.

Our Connection to the National Movement

Indivisible Long Island is a proud local chapter of Indivisible, a national network of thousands of groups across the country. Founded after the 2016 election by former congressional staffers, Indivisible has grown into one of the most effective grassroots organizing forces in America — built on the belief that an informed, engaged, and organized public is the most powerful force in a democracy.

We bring that national energy home to Long Island — with local voices, local actions, and local impact.
